一、Overview of the 2023 Metallurgical Gas and Thermal Power Seminar

The 2023 Metallurgical Industry Gas and Thermal Power Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection, as well as Gas Power Generation and Desulfurization Technology Seminar was successfully held from June 4th to 6th at the Tangshan R&F Intercontinental Hotel. The 

number of representatives attending this conference is over 130, from more than 50 large and medium-sized steel enterprises in the metallurgical industry across the country, including energy, power system, gas and thermal power professional units, engineering design

units, and related equipment suppliers. Our company, as a member unit, sent relevant personnel to participate in this conference.

Over the past three years, China's economy and steel industry have entered a stage of high-quality development from a stage of high-speed development. The energy-saving and environmental protection technologies of metallurgical gas and thermal power specialties have

made many new progress and achievements, while also encountering many new problems that need to be discussed and exchanged. The meeting summarized the technical achievements and management experience of gas and thermal power in China's steel enterprises over the past

three years, and explored energy-saving and environmental protection issues of common interest to enterprises such as gas power generation and desulfurization technology.

二、Paper published on the design and optimization of refined desulfurization process using coke oven gas hydrolysis method

Mr. Miao Yongbang, an engineer from the Energy and Environmental Protection Department of Baoshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., published an excellent paper titled "Analysis of Baosteel's Flue Gas Desulfurization Treatment Technology Route", which focuses on Baosteel's 

comprehensive characteristics of its gas pipeline network and site status. After analyzing the gas composition, fuel structure, and desulfurization process, the hydrolysis desulfurization process was adopted to efficiently remove organic and inorganic sulfur from the 

coke oven gas medium, achieving gas source desulfurization treatment. Baosteel Group invested in the construction of a hydrolysis method coke oven gas purification device in 2021 to meet environmental emission requirements. The device was put into operation in 

September 2022, helping Baosteel Group achieve its ultra-low emission transformation goals and successfully recognized as an environmental A-level enterprise. This process unit adopts the two-stage hydrolysis process independently developed by Shanghai Tongzhu Chemical.

Baosteel Engineering Company designed this unit, and its main catalyst and adsorbent raw materials are all products of Shanghai Tongzhu Chemical. As of now, the device has been operating well, and all indicators have reached the technical agreement.

The desulfurization process of coke oven gas hydrolysis method is as follows:

COG first passes through an adsorption tower to remove some mechanical impurities such as dust and iron filings, as well as moisture. Then, it is pressurized by a compressor and enters a steam heater to heat the COG to 110-180 ℃. In the hydrolysis tower, a large amount

of organic sulfur components in the gas are converted, and then cooled to a certain temperature by circulating cooling water in the cooler. Finally, it enters the fine desulfurization tower to complete the final step of the desulfurization process, and the clean COG 

is sent to the coke oven gas cabinet.

三、Case study of our company's coke oven gas hydrolysis method desulfurization unit

Our company successfully put into operation the first domestic organic sulfur hydrolysis unit at Shandong Iron and Steel Rizhao Base in 2017, solving the problem of source control of pollution emissions at Shandong Iron and Steel Rizhao Company and achieving ultra-low 

emissions of flue gas. The device has been successfully operated for 6 years, with stable indicators and receiving widespread praise from the owner unit.


In 2021, Baosteel Group inspected the comprehensive gas treatment routes of major steel mills in China, and based on its own situation and existing technology, ultimately chose our company's independently developed coke oven gas hydrolysis process.
